Hello, members of Dragon Ball Ultimate. Have an idea I'd like to run by everyone to see what ya'll think.
I'd like to implement a very basic "Power Boost" or Transformation item that will help out those that are just starting out. These will be different from a "Setting Item" Transformation as they are open for use by anyone. They will be a cheaper buff than a Setting Transformation, but will also cost cheaper in the Item Shop, and yes they will need to be purchased. Below are the stats of it. Let me know what you guys think:
*EDIT: 11/03/16 Power Boost! Transformation Description: A temporary boost to power that can be used at the beginning of a fight only, much like a Setting Transformation item. The boost to power only lasts the duration of the battle and the item is removed from the player's inventory afterward, again much like a Setting Item Transformation. Think of this transformation in the same way as when a character of the series would focus all of their energy on themselves and try to boost their power level as far as it could go, making it technically not a transformation but just a boost in power. Buff: +d5 for 5 rounds of any match. So, for example if your base dice are at 3d20, using this would bump you to 3d25 for 5 Attacking Rounds. Restriction: Cannot be used past achieving dice sides of d50 on site. Reasoning for this is that at around d50 this is a level of dice where hits are more frequent than misses, so the extra +d10 dice sides being used for cheap past this point is not necessary. Also, cannot be stacked with any other transformation at all. Cost: 200 Zeni, can be traded in for 100 Zeni at d50+ for a refund.
Let me know your thoughts!

Let's see. I'm sort of mixed about the idea, I reckon.
The one point is that this would let lower power characters with setting transformations have a buff all their own (so say, a Saiyan fighting a Saiyan a lot stronger would be able to boost only themselves instead of using their Setting Item), which I do think is nice.
But on the other side of things, it wouldn't give setting transformations much use anymore. Everyone would naturally want to take the cheaper option, and being it's a d10 boost, it's right in line with the power of most setting transformations anyway, making them somewhat obsolete. While it could be argued they can only be acquired and used for a limited period of growth, d50 isn't very far off from most transformations that are better than the starter (setting) transformations. Heck, a Majin for example could just use this for the exact same power boost as their Pure Majin form but cheaper, carrying them all the way to their d50 Super Majin form. And saving them...what...100z a pop?
I'm not opposed to it, but as it's written up right now it sort of leaves Setting Transformations only useful for stacking with forms later on.

Yeah, I do like the idea of an individual boost. The numbers just don't work at the moment. The androids setting item affords them a +d5. Why would they want to use that when they could +d10 with this boost, unless they were in a big battle with lots of android allies they could boost?
I like the idea, just not in its current form. Either it needs nerfing (below +d5 seems pretty pointless though) or the setting items need buffing. I dunno.

Good points. Will look into most likely scaling it back, perhaps to a +d5. Maybe have it so it only lasts a certain amount of rounds, too? Maybe 3 or so? Making it cheaper in cost, as well. This way, it can be effective, but spending the extra Zeni on Setting Trans Items if you have access to them is still superior.

We could possibly have two versions, as well. A +d5 that lasts the entire match, AND A version that gives +d10, but as a drawback, is a little more expensive than the d5 version and only lasts a certain number of rounds? Just a thought. It would be neat, flavor-wise. We see the Non-Saiyans pull off power-ups that let them hold their own early on in the series, they're just mostly outclassed after that initial surprise boost (d5?). Meanwhile we have those full on rage moments where a character powers way up and kicks butt for a minute, then returns to normal power after their barrage (d10?) It would also keep Setting Items superior, being stronger than the d5, while also lasting the entire match unlike the d10. Just another two pennies to add to the pot.

I, personally, think that having it as a +d5 and giving them a duration of five rounds would suffice and make the item a worthwile addition. It would give races without setting items some options and the item could exist without overshadowing any of the current setting items, like the "Energy Surge" items for Androids and Cyborgs.

I second the 5 round d5 idea. I like that.

I think I would be okay with it lasting 3-5 turns (up for debate) at an increase of +d5 to the base dice. My only thing is, this leaves the Android and Cyborg setting transformation somewhat lacking.
HOWEVER, given that they already start at 4 dice (4d) they are hands down the most powerful Species on site early game, and pretty much through d70 / 20k EXP territory. I wouldn't be against removing their Setting Transformation item because of this, to replace it with the Power Boost item for all Species. It's something they can invest in, for a temporary boost in power, and something they probably would use in favor of their Setting Trans until d50 anyway.
Almost all species get a bump to 4d (permanent or temporary) by around d70-d80, anyway.
Thoughts?

I think that's reasonable. I hadn't considered how strong the Androids and Cyborgs were. I'd support that measure.

Okay, I think we'll go with that then. Will be removing the Android / Cyborg Setting Transformation and putting this item into Item Shop by the end of the week.
Going to give people some time to dispute if there are any.
