Good morning Omega.
Her eyes snapped open, a flood of light burning into her retinal sensors. Instead of squeezing her eyes shut against the violently bright assault, her pupils instantly adjusted to account for the amount of light in the room. “Ah, you’re awake. We were hoping that you would be our first success. Rise, Omega, and greet your new masters!” The voice was familiar to her. Scanning her database, she quickly determined the voice to belong to Dr. Cyrus Benjamin Org, or Dr. Cy B. Org as he was better known. Dr. Cyborg. She might have chuckled at this, but something prevented her from doing this. She didn’t know what she was doing, but soon she found herself standing, following his commands to the letter. There, standing before her, were two men. Dr. Cyborg and his assistant, known only as The Professor. There was little information about this man in her database, and she made a note to inquire as to why. “Good morning Dr. Org,” she said, nodding to the taller of the two men. “Professor,” she nodded to the shorter man. The two were complete opposites. Cyborg was tall, muscular, and had a full head of thick, black hair. He was clean shaven, and his lab coat was pristine, pressed and crisp. Very professional looking. The Professor was short, fat, and balding. His mustache was grey, showing his age. His lab coat was slightly wrinkled, and there were various stains covering it. “As the first potential success, we would like to put you through a series of testing, just to make sure all your systems are functioning at their peak.” Motioning for Omega to follow, Dr. Cyborg began to walk down a long hallway. There were a lot of doors on either side of the hall, some of them marked with symbols. Most of them were symbols belonging to an ancient language, their alphabet. Alpha, Beta, Gamma. It wasn’t hard for her to put it together. She was designated Omega, so these rooms must contain previous attempts at perfecting the technology that was used to create her. Her predecessors, so to speak. They finally arrived at the last door, and the Dr. opened it, entering and waiting for Omega and the Professor. The Professor was eerily quiet, but Omega didn’t mind. She was too busy analyzing her surroundings, and this room was full of computer screens and keypads. “Omega, this is where your testing will begin. Welcome to your new existence!” The excitment was dripping from every word that came from Dr. Cyborgs mouth. “Welcome to a new beginning!” WC: 503 PWC: 503 TWC: 503

Testing Complete Omega ducked under a blast of energy, stepped quickly to the left to avoid a second, and lept over the third before bringing her left heel down into the training drone. The metal crunched and sparked under her boot, but the cyborg was unable to rest there. Three more drones were coming through the openings in the walls, and before she could fully analyze the damage to the first drone, she was already moving to intercept. “Impressive, she made it though the intelligence tests faster than any of the previous subjects, and here she’s actually able to dodge the drones!” Cyborg’s voice was barely a whisper as he watched the training continue through the monitors. “She really is our first success!” Android Omega continued to duck through the various blasts, making it look easy. Omega slipped her way behind one of the drones and clutched it in her hands. She felt the vibrations as the drone prepared to fire once more. A few quick calculations ran through her mind, and she threw the drone, adding just a slight amount of spin to it. The blast erupted from the drone, obliterating the second drone, before careening into the third. All three drones erupted in a bright ball of flame. However, she didn’t notice the final blast from one of the drones, and it caught her in the side of the face. Everything went black for a moment, but then her systems rebooted. Testing Complete.
Omega wiped the sweat from her forehead and walked out of the testing room. By routing the cooling systems to work similar to a human’s natural sweat glands, it gave the illusion that she was nothing more than an average girl. It really was a clever touch. “Impressive, Omega. You have completed the testing. You are indeed our first success,” Dr. Cyborg said, as the Professor made notes. Omega looked at the two men in front of her, and she wondered why she was standing there listening to them. Her database told her that they were important, and that she was obligated to follow their every command. Even though her programming told her to listen, something else was telling her to do what she wanted. She could be free. “Unfortunately, we will have to deactivate you for a few weeks, just to make sure all the failsafes are working. Standard testing and verification, but you already know that. It’s embedded into your programming. Monthly testing and upgrades will be carried out from this point on,” the Dr. said slowly. “So, if you’ll follow me, we’ll get started.” “No. I refuse. I am leaving,” the cold, monotone voice of Android Omega sent chills down their spines. Cyborg reached for his emergency shutoff device, but Omega was faster. In the blink of an eye, Cyborg was pinned to the wall, held by the throat. “I will take that,” she said, taking the control device and smashing it in her free hand. “Goodnight Dr. Cyborg,” Her hand moved like lightning, connecting with the man’s jaw, instantly knocking him unconscious. Dropping the man, she quickly moved toward the Professor, just in time to kick his emergency control device across the hall. “I thought you would try something,” she said coldly. “I will be leaving now.” Leaving the Professor in an unconscious heap on the floor, Omega made sure to deliberately step on the other control device. As it sparked under her boot, Omega smiled. It only lasted for a moment, but she was genuinely smiling. She ran a diagnostic, and the results surprised her. The blast from training actually shorted out her memory and emotional inhibitor chip. Not only did she have freedom, but she remembered everything. Furious, she thought about killing the two men she had just left lying on the floor, but something kept her from doing it. Instead, she just stormed out of the hidden bunker and took off into the dark night, with only one question running through her mind. “Who am I?” WC: 666 PWC: 1,169 TWC: 1,169
