Dian Xin was in an unusual spot: for once, he was not on the road. No, Dian Xin was far from the road. In fact, he was in a town. That was odd enough for him. In-fact, he had spent more time than he planned in town. Why? Dian Xin could not exactly say. Dian Xin followed wherever his heart took him, and right now, it just so happened to implore him to stay in town. Perhaps it was the fact that he wished to indulge some of his baser desires. Yes, thought Dian Xin as he sat leaned over a bar counter, that was probably it. The hazy atmosphere of the bar blurred his vision and mind, that underlying stream of pleasure that one derives from the nigh life working its way through his body. It was like an electric undercurrent, pulsing with the beat of his heart. The chatter, the feelings, the very air itself seemed to be alive. Indeed, thought Dian Xin. What was the harm in sticking around in the city a little longer? Everyone had to indulged themselves sometimes, even vagabonds such as himself. After all, it was hard to find a place that serves booze out on the road. Imagine that? Someone not building a bar out in the middle of nowhere. Ridiculous, thought Dian Xin. Didn't the bartenders know that his kind, the wanderers, wanted drinks too? Perhaps that was what he ought to do when he retired from the traveling life decades down the road: open a roadside bar. Earth II could use more of those, yes indeed. "Bartender!" Exclaimed Dian Xin, "Another drink, please! Same as the last!" The gruff man behind the bar nodded and slid a glass across the way to him, and Dian Xin nodded his thanks. Quickly, he pounded it back, downing a good third almost immediately. The cold drink slid down his throat with ease, and he let out a sigh of satisfaction. Now this was the life. Of course, he'd back on the road, first thing tomorrow morning if his mind was all together. Booze had a way of messing with people's minds, unfortunately. Briefly, Dian Xin wondered how much he must stand out. With wild crimson hair and a sword on his hip, he must be drawing some attention. And, of course, there was the matter that if people looked closely, they would be able to tell his demonic heritage from the ears and unusual eyes. Well, thought Dian Xin, let them notice. And perhaps they might engage him. The young halfblood would welcome any kind of converse right about now. The night was still young, and he intended to make something of it.

Trouza was a regular at watering holes on the road. His days as a pilgrim usually consisted of spiritual enlightenment and martial training in the mornings and just enough time for a drink or four at night. The night was no different from his usual, and Trouza was trying to burn some hours at the bar in the establishment where he was staying for the night to get himself sleepy. He still had quite a ways to go; having decided to visit one of the Eastern Region's monasteries and catch up with a monk friend of his. He was particularly hidden among the crowd in the bar he was drinking from, and he knew mostly who the villagers were, who were the regulars due to the bartender greeting them heartily and who were just visitors and probably not a frequent drinker. The young man who was at the bar drinking seemed to be both. Nursing a cold mug of ale himself, he observed the man for a little while, glancing back from time to time between him and one of the local town girls who were enjoying their nights as well. The road was filled with varied types of humanoid travellers from all walks of life, from the otherworldly beauties to the hellish beasts. Trouza would usually meet plenty of them on his travels and not bat an eye. This time however, he wasn't taking any chances. Not only did the man nursing his drink at the bar seem to be a strong fighter judging from his sword; it seemed that he possesed a sinister aura unlike any he had felt before, though he coudn't pinpoint what it was. He seemed to be an interesting character anyway, and if he knew anything about fighting or martial arts, he might be able to discuss with a kindred soul. Seeing no harm in trying to get to know the crimson-haired man and ask him himself, he got up from his seat along with his drink and sat down by the bar himself. "Cheers. Enjoying the night, fella? Got a story to your sword over there?" Trouza jovially opened up as he tilted his mug his way and smiling at the owner of the establishment.

A presence joined him at the bar, followed by a voice, a question. Dian Xin swiveled his head to face the newcomer, and was greeting with quite the amiable presence. The young swordsman took his own glass and returned the gesture in greeting. Dian Xin took a moment to look at the man through the bar atmosphere. Dark hair, dark eyes. The demon blooded man though the newcomer had a mustache, but he could not be sure. It was dim in the bar. Perhaps a trick of the lighting? Dian Xin shrugged it off. It did not really matter.
Dian Xin took another sip from his drink before setting his glass on the bar and turning to face the man. "Aye," said Dian Xin, "I am enjoying the night. Trying to make the most of it before I hit the road once again. You don't run into too many places with cold booze on the dusty roads of Earth."
Dian Xin lowered his hand and tapped the hilt of his blade, the katana that had been his constant companion in his travels. "Does this blade have a story?" Dian Xin asked, a grin coming over his face. "Well," he continued, "Not really. It was my father's sword before it was mine. He gave it to me when he last parted ways. I imagine he has a tale or two for it, but me? Nothing yet. Maybe in the future I'll make a story or two with it."
Dian Xin laughed and took up his mug again to down another gulp of his brew. As the mug came down from his lips, he wiped the mouth with the sleeve of his travel jacket. "But I will say this: it's a good sword. It has never let me down. I suppose that's all you can really ask for out of a blade," he chuckled, grinning wide.
He gave the man a wink and a slight bow of the head. "I'm Dian Xin, stranger," said the halfblood, "And you?"

After the Dian Xin turned and talked to him, it seemed his worries about the man's aura seemed to fade a bit. He was after all, kind enough to entertain Trouza and was of the friendly sort. Wiping the froth from his mustache after taking another drink, Trouza amicably exchanged words with the warrior who was apparently trying to observe his features. "Go to the city and that's most you'll ever find at night; watering holes, bars and clubs for the young'ins mostly, but yeah, you dont see much rest stops like these on the road. Not much young warriors such as yourself nowadays. Everyone else would rather party on Earth while hostile threats grow stronger"Trouza set aside his drink for awhile to face the man and talk to him more personally. "People call me Trouza. Im a pilgrim looking to train martial arts under a master, but right now most of my training is well.. Self taught. I was taught for a short stint but then had to run away after messing with the wrong people." Trouza trailed off and then continued, "I was in the mind that maybe the world is a bit dangerous , you know? Maybe people like me need to get ready just in case bandits take over or some alien invaders."Trouza nodded and observed the sword as the man explained its origin, probably passed down from generation to generation of warriors which awed him, compared to his own shady heritage. Apparently the sword was the man's father's, and that he himself was trying to make his own name. The only question now was whether the man used his sword for protecting or ill intent. "Say, where are you headed anyway? On some sott of quest perhaps?" Trouza asked with squinted eyes. They were both dangerous men on different paths, do mayne they were heading the same direction at the time.

The man had a point. The cities were full of places like this, though Dian Xin rarely stayed in one too long. And the man had a good point: people seemed happy to drink despite the dangers in the world. Though, who could blame them? It was much easier to party than it was to fight. Luckily for Dian, he had an inclination to do both. Though, mostly fighting. Not that he was particularly good at it, as his encounter with the Majin Kazam would have proven. Though the common assortment of bandits were a far cry from the pink beast that Dian Xin had encountered; Dian Xin liked to think he could handle most others. Dian Xin nodded in agreement as the man spoke. Though there were more warriors on Earth than ever before, they were still the minority. For a moment, he thought on it. Perhaps it was for the best. If everyone was a warrior like himself, well, Earth's problems would be a little bit bigger. The man introduced himself as 'Trouza', a wandering martial artist. Self-taught by his own decree, though Dian Xin did take note of what he said regarding his previous teachers. Dian Xin raised an eyebrow in curiosity, but did not pursue that line: they'd just met and it was not his place to pry. But his reasons for pursuing the more martial of arts were solid enough. Hell, Dian Xin fought for the same reasons. "I understand," said Dian Xin, "I fight for much the same reason. The pursuit of justice is a fine goal."The man asked the direction of Dian Xin's path, to which Dian Xin shrugged. "I'm a wanderer by trade," he explained, "Going wherever the wind takes me. I guess you could call me an explorer. Generally, I putz about until I hear something that catches my ear, be it trouble on the horizon or some mention of one of the wonders of this world." Dian Xin grinned. "For now, though? I think I'll be heading further into the east. It's a little less... civilized, from what I hear, but that doesn't bother me." Dian Xin tilted his head. "And what of you, Trouza? What're your plans after tonight?"

"Continue my journey to one of the eastern monasteries. Same as you, though the eastern lands are not as empty as you think if you know where to go." Trouza answered as the swordsman asked, nursing his now almost empty mug. "A friend of mine, one of the monks, always loves scolding me over my drinking and the erratic behavior when I do so, but I am fond of the man and his lessons, especially morning meditation.""Now, if your question is where I'm headed in the long run, well I'm quite stumped myself." Trouza stopped, unsure whether the man was interested in his extended answer. "I've been looking for the Crane School Master for quite some time now, elusive as he may be. Other than that, I don't quite know what to do after that. Treasure? Protect people? Quite thankless, general jobs and I don't know where to start with those. I have problems in my hometown and I can't return yet. To say the least, family isn't quite keen on me taking this err, path. Hmm.."Perhaps it was the alcohol that loosened his lips and a fellow soul on the road relatable to him and someone as strong as him; a ki user. But what he said was honest; Earth-II was still a big mysterious place, and even though the independence was a fresh change of pace, he had no idea where to go and how to use the power he is honing for the better. Alcohol at least, dulls his anxieties to help him sleep. In the morning, he sticks to his discipline and meditates and hones his body with martial training; mostly the bipolar effects of wandering without a master to train him but eager to learn. "Oh, I am not sure where the night or the morning would take us and whether we're going separate ways, but should you ever have the need for another fighter when things get tough, do not hesitate to call on me." Trouza stopped and remembered before going on. "Here, have this..."Closing his eyes looking as if he was about to meditate or talk to him telepathically, Trouza then took out a small Capsule Corp. beeper from under his training gi and gives it to the swordsman with a comedic smile. "You can call me if some demon bursts from the ground or a werewolf goes on rampage. It'll be fun to tag team."Maybe Trouza wasn't still sure of what to do next, but maybe doing this, he may help someone else's path while he is looking for his.

Towards one of the eastern monasteries? How interesting, thought Dian Xin as he polished off his own drink, the fog of alcohol beginning to obfuscate his mind. He supposed if one counted the monasteries, then maybe the east was not quite so empty after all. Not that Dian Xin was particularly fond of monastaries: he had never been the bookish type and meditation never came easily to him, despite his father's best efforts. There was just too much fire in his soul. Dian Xin was a man of action, but more power to those who had the self-discipline to sit in place and mind their own breathing; it was a power that he himself lacked. "Interesting," said Dian Xin politely as the man continued to speak. The man went on, this time mentioning the Crane School. A flash of recognition went through Dian Xin's eyes. The half-demon had heard of the legendary school before. Every fighter on Earth worth his or her salt knew of the legacy of the two most famous martial arts disciplines in all the land: the Turtle and Crane schools. If the man was seeking out training under the tutelage of such a school, he must be a serious martial artist. Dian Xin had considered approaching the Crane's eternal rival, the Turtle School, for training himself when he was in the South a few weeks past, but he'd decided against it. The young hybrid had wanted to be stronger before pursuing such training. "The Crane School, huh?" Said Dian Xin, "A lofty goal, but probably one worth pursuing. I hope you find the Crane Master, though I'm sure the road will be kind to you on your journey."The man went on, about the morning and parting ways. Dian Xin nodded. The man seemed friendly enough, but Dian Xin was more than used to party ways with people. Hell, he had said goodbye to his own father how long ago? Regardless, Dian Xin had not seen the man since. Though, perhaps he would be seeing Trouza again: the man handed him a small capsule pager, saying that it might be fun to team up against a foe. Well, well, wasn't this turning out to be an interesting night? He'd come for a drink, and was walking out of it with a potential ally on the road, a fighter like himself. Dian Xin nodded gratefully, a wide grin on his face as he accepted the capsule and pocketed in the breast of his travel jacket. "Thank you," he said amicably, "I wish I could offer you some means to summon me, but sadly, I don't carry such equipment. Though, if we do cross paths ever again, you're welcome to stay a few or ask my assistance."Dian Xin ran a hand through his long, crimson hair, sweeping it out of his face and tucking it behind his quite demonic ears. "Perhaps we can even spar some time," he suggested, "I've been meaning to get a few friendly brawls in. Never hurts to sharpen one's skills through practical application, right?"

Unlike perhaps saiyajin or other fierce warrior races, Trouza has come to learn that humans gather their power differently. Whereas a saiyan would gain strength and power through rage and injury, humans gain immense advantage using their determination, brains and inner peace if prepared adequately and used in battle. Trouza honed himself to be always ready and hone his mind and body in the morning even if he does enjoy a couple of drinks frequently at night. During his meditations he would fight a battle in his mind, often against himself and his own attacks and counterattacks. Comically, he would usually end meditation more frustrated and prone to blow up some rocks, but honing the mind is still honing the mind, and he would continue doing so as long as his thirst for strength and self-reliance is still there. Dian Xin commented on the Crane School and indeed, Trouza surmised Dian was a serious martial artist as well to know of the famous fighting schools. Earth II enjoyed relative peace in its time and most people were interested in leisure, commerce or building up the relatively new planet, and though known, only a few would be interested in martial arts as they would. Sadly, the man didn't have modern technology and didn't have the means to communicate with him. Who doesn't have the latest gadgets from Capsule Corp. anyway? But fate would have it that they should meet again, Trouza guessed. It was after all, a small world for men like them. It wouldn't be long until they come upon trouble, or trouble comes to them. "Interesting suggestion, friend." Trouza blurted with enthusiasm. The drunk Dian Xin offered a friendly brawl against him; a spar to train against each other. "I'm up for a bit of sparring myself, perhaps in the morning or some other time we meet, when we are both up to shape! A chance to show off the results of my training, and gain new insight of my own."Trouza was envigorated by the thought of a gentleman's honorable fight; a challenging one at that, though he'd hope the man also fought without the sword for fear of getting cut in half. Perhaps he will get to see the man's true nature, the one he's been bothered about since he met him a couple of drinks back, and see it unleashed. He himself would do his best to show Dian the results of his rigorous self-training and hard work; one an ordinary human like himself couldn't have achieved on his own. "Here, let me show you on the map where the monastery should be." Trouza exclaimed as he took out his map of the Eastern Regions, laid it across the table moving the now empty mugs and pointed directions past wild forests and untouched mountain ranges.

The man at least seemed open to the idea of a round of sparring between the two, but at a later date. Dian Xin nodded in agreement. That was definitely for the best. Why, if the two of them fought while under the dulling influence of alcohol, someone might get hurt. And that was the last thing that the slightly drunken hybrid wanted. "Sounds like a plan, then," said Dian Xin with a grin, "I look forward to seeing the results of your training. It's rare to find a... sensible and skilled fighter these days."
Dian Xin's mind flashed back to the encounter with the Majin: Kazam. Yes, thought Dian Xin, the creature had been powerful, but anything but sensible. His bruises were a testament to that, as was the fact that his backpack had been a bit lighter for some time after their encounter. It would be nice to have a friendly match sometime. Dian Xin leaned in as the man showed him on a map where the eastern monastery would be. Dian Xin took a mental photo of the map and the monastery's location. Perhaps one day he might be in the area with scant else to do and the monks of that place would prove worthy of a visit. "A little out of the way, isn't it?" Muttered Dian Xin, looking at all that he would have to pass to get to the monastery, "Though, I suppose most things out this way are a little by the wayside."Leaning back from the map, Dian Xin turned to face Trouza once again. For a moment, he considered asking the man what he meant by trouble, be it back in his home village or any of the other occasions. It certainly sounded like this man got up to his fair share of mischief, and Dian Xin was curious. But the better part of him thought against it: surely, it was a private thing for the man and Dian Xin did not wish to pry into the past of a man he had just met. Perhaps when they met again, Dian Xin would ask the man, maybe over another drink. The demonic halfling offered the man a small bow. "Thanks for showing me," said Dian Xin, "It's been a pleasure talking to you. I gotta say, it's been a while since I really had a conversation with someone. The road tends to run a bit... silent." Good company was rare to find those days, and luckily another strong, kind-hearted fighter was worth a hundred strong brutes with ill intent. Seemingly the world was filled with the latter kind these days even though it was relatively peaceful. It was up to the people like Trouza and Dian Xin to continue training and fight evil doers. Trouza was looking forward to the spar and his muscles were twitching at the thought of it. Perhaps he could show Dian Xin his own Shotgun technique if he could get a blow in and Dian could show his swordplay. It would be interesting, to say the least. "One day I hope to run a monastery some day too filled with students willing to learn how to defend themselves and other people.", Trouza admitted. A martial arts school master teaching helping protect Earth 2 against terror and threats. "Long way off and a couple of decades down the line maybe, if fate is on my side."Trouza tapped the swordsman by the shoulder as he stood up. Dian Xin thanked Trouza and Trouza bowed back in respect before making for the door to end the ale-infused night. Hopefully, after Dian was done with his business in the east he would visit the monastery and have their spar and perhaps another round of ale after. Whatever Dian's business was getting lost and away from civilization, perhaps they can both discuss it then, along with Trouza's own problems in his home land. Trouza will go on ahead and will train in anticipation, sensing Dian Xin to be the stronger warrior. The monks wont mind the swordsman anyway, though he wasnt sure they were open to mortals with demonic features and deadly swords. "We will meet again, Dian Xin the swordsman! Tell me about your your trip went as well, and I will prepare the finest ale after our fight!" Trouza eagerly waved off as he slammed both their billas on the counter in front of the bartender and headed for the door.

So the man had teaching ambitions as well? Dian Xin cocked his head sideways. What an interesting fellow. But Dian Xin was sure that he'd manage to make his mark on the world somehow, as he seemed a decent sort. The young halfblood liked to think the decent and good made their way up in the world. Though perhaps reality might be a little bit different. Finally, it seemed like it was time for them to part ways. As the man rose, Dian Xin raised a hand in parting. Well, thought he, this had been a pleasant night. "Farewell, Trouza," said the halfblood, "I look forward to our next meeting." Dian Xin was sure it would come soon. And when it did, Raisu was certain that the two would have another interesting encounter, whether it ended in a spar or some kind of lecture led by monks. And with that, Dian Xin watched him go for a moment before turning back to the bar and gesturing for another drink. The night was still young, and Dian Xin intended to make the most of it.
Good thread, Trouza! I'll PM you later about a follow-up! Sorry for the delay, it's been a hectic holiday!
