Keeping his eyes glued to the large screen with the portraits of each fighter, Luo would pay close attention to the results of the drawing. He wasn't fighting Dian Xin, nor was he fighting the tailed stranger either. He wasn't entirely sure who he was fighting, actually. It was the man announced as hailing from ''parts unknown'', and that they ''weren't sure what he was''. The half-breed wasn't entirely sure either, but something about his opponent kept him on guard. His chi felt different, somehow. Tainted. Dark. Cold, even. He'd have to be careful; the figure's strange appearance may have meant he came from a place that was home to even stranger methods of fighting. Approaching his opponent and leaving a fair degree of paces between them, Luo would cautiously enter his combat stance and narrow his eyes in focus.

Mazohn glanced at the screen when the matchups were announced, studying his foe with a mixture of contempt and mild curiosity. This creature was supposedly fairly strong and had apparently received tutoring at the hands of the legendary Turtle-whatever. Mazohn cared little, some woodsy instruction could hardly compare to the decades of combat he had endured. This runt's skill advantage was minimal, his power, however, was interesting. It was quite obvious that this "Luo" was the stronger of the pair, not by much, but still present. He would have to be careful in direct engagements, especially in ki clashes. Mazohn chewed on his lip, planning. When the demon's match was called, he stepped up to the stage with little preamble, silently staring down his opponent, taking note of the tail. At least this runt wasn't an idiot, running straight towards his defeat. While the man adopted a defensive stance, Mazohn would continue to stare, his arms hanging low at his sides, waiting. 93OiRVoD1d100

As the announcer called time, Mazohn's arms shot up, releasing two purple-black waves of ki, aiming straight for his opponent! The power in these attacks was considerable, easily enough to damage the Earthling. However, despite his appearance, Mazohn was no over-arrogant demon prince, assuming that only the bare minimum of his power would be enough for this opponent. The demon arms snapped sideways to form a horizontal line, palms facing outward, before Mazohn clapped them together. At the last possible moment, the ki waves curved, one to each side. The ki attacks described a half-circle, before they likely struck the human in the back, hopefully launching him forward. If this was successful, the tiles under the demon's bare feet would crack as the fighter launched himself forward, aura crackling, attempting to sink a heavy fist into his opponent's gut. 5tGXP1NH3d43

As it turned out, hoping his opponent was going to come to him and play by his rules had ended up being a foolish decision. Firing a pair of ki waves at him, Luo's expression instantly turned to shock. ''E's firin' 'em at me, but if I dodge, they could end up in th' stands! Dammit!'' He thought to himself. Just as they closed in and he was ready to take them head on, they instead split out and away from his body. Before his senses could catch up, however, they curled back in and singed into his back, exploding and launching him forward right into a punishing gut punch from his opponent! Hacking up a wad of spit as his eyes went wide, he felt the knuckles grind into his guts before the force propelled him backward. Sliding on his feet to come to an eventual stop a short distance away, he'd keep a firm gaze on his foe. This guy was no joke, that was clever of him. Luo's speed and momentum based fighting style served well to an open ring like this one. There was plenty of space to let velocity add force to his blows, and he planned on taking full advantage of that. Even though he felt naked without his trusty blade, he was more than well versed in unarmed combat. Curling his body forward defensively, he would spring into a forward burst of momentum with his front leg, then took evasive maneuvers as he closed the distance by dashing from side to side. Feinting his way of closing in with one last forward burst, he would instead flit from view, attempting to appear above his opponent and crash down with a mighty ax kick! Upon landing, he would spring off of that leg into a thrusting knee attack with his free one, then finish up by extending both legs in the air into a chest kick to knock his foe away before his landing.

Mazohn smirked as his strategy worked perfectly, in ways even better than what he had anticipated. The fool was too busy worrying about the pissants in the crowd to guess his tactic in time, and the ki waves served their purpose perfectly. However, before he could follow up on this punishing strike, the human was gone, flitting backward by using the momentum of the strike. Mazohn smiled again, falling into his true defensive pose, one fist held high above his head, and another slightly forward, held flat. The demon beckoned forward the human with his lower hand, curious to see what the human would do next. Luo would likely nearly vanish from normal eyes as he burst forward, his speed quite impressive for such a weak species. Mazohn held steady, doing his best to track his foe. Got him! Mazohn thought confidently, moving to intercept the human's last burst of speed. The human's strength was impressive, but his attacks were far too linear to be a threat. Or, at least, that was what he thought. Mazohn was sent flying by the human's sneak attack, nearly being sent off the edge of the ring before he managed to catch himself. The human was more wily than he had anticipated, and almost fast enough to entirely bypass his defenses. Caution was needed here. As the human charged forward with his knee strike, Mazohn suprisingly didn't move, taking the attack head on. The sheer force of the strike caused a bit of blood to escape from the demon's mouth, but he had prepared himself for this. The demon would attempt to grab Luo by the face, tossing him into the air and firing a massive wave of ki, intending to blast the human out of the ring entirely. 8lK|k5e23d43

Luo's high-speed assault had found some success, his opening kick and knee strike connecting cleanly with his opponent. What had been shown thus far was a sharp contrast in combat doctrine; Luo's hit-and-away fighting style was being pitted against a foe with an impressive control of their chi, flinging potent attacks from a distance that kept him on his toes (and hurt like hell to boot). As he attempted to disengage, however, his opponent advanced and kept the distance short by lashing out with a hand and grasping him firmly by the face. His eyes widening in surprise as he was flung into the sky, he realized too late what was going to happen. He was going to be left vulnerable to another projectile as he sailed through the air, possibly even knocking him out of the ring! Coiling defensively and bracing for impact, Mazohn's massive energy wave rocketed up toward him and blasted him yet higher into the sky as he watched the ring begin to shrink from the distance. Soaking much of the force into his guard, he unfortunately could do nothing about the potency; the wave exploded against his braced defenses, tossing his guard aside and sending him into a wild, ascending backward spin straight upwards. As he began to fall, his clothing singed, he would allow himself to descend a bit through the smoke cloud of the explosion. Gritting his teeth through the pain, he would raise both hands as they were bathed in a ghostly white aura. Flinging them downward, he would begin to rain an assault of ki blasts, machine gun style, to cover his remaining descent and approach. Looking to suppress and bury his opponent under the assault, he would land within the kicked up smoke. Taking two long and heavy steps forward, his leading foot would slam forward one last time and propel him back into the fray. This time, his elbow was outstretched and looking to collide with Mazohn's ribs. Following that, he would lash a leg upward into a powerful turning hook kick to try and catch him across the jaw! Sorry for the wait. Darn twelve-hour shifts!

Mazohn grinned evily as the speedster fell prey to his little trap, not even having time to react before he was launched into the air. The demon had little respect for such fighters, ducking in for a few hits before dancing away on light feet. What was the point in engaging in a fight, with all of it's promise and sweat-soaked engagement, if one danced away like a coward? Such tactics were truly pointless. Thin trails of smoke rose from the demon's palms as he stared up at the place his opponent had been only moments before. The smoke cloud created from the blast hid any sign of what had happened to the boy. Most likely he had been vaporized, but there was still a chance he could have lived. After all, the human had been quite powerful, far more powerful than that pathetic cat he had brutalized only a few months ago, fresh out of the demon realm, and far, far weaker. Several yellow ki blasts broke through the cloud, raining down upon the arena and causing numerous small, sharp detonations. Mazohn growled as purple ki formed around his fists. Accelerating to an inhuman speed, the demon began punching and slapping the ki blasts falling near him away, causing them to ricochet into the buildings and turf around them. A few even came dangerously close to the stands themselves. Annoyed, Mazohn caught two of the blasts, flinging them back up towards his foe! The human then came in for another assault, launching an elbow strike at his midsection! Mazhon countered this stroke with one of his own, causing a small shockwave to burst out from the pair's clash. "Fast one aren't ya?" The demon growled through gritted teeth, trying his best to overwhelm the human's strength. Abrubtly, the resistance disappeared, and the demon stumbled forward into the human's kick, and was sent reeling and spinning in mid-air, falling towards the ground. Mazohn grunted in pain, but managed to use the attack's momentum to launch one of his own, sending a powerful kick towards the human's jaw in an attempt to bring him to ground as well! Mazohn quickly sprang to his feet, shaking his head to clear it from the impact of the human's heel. The demon then launched himself at his foe, attempting to pick him up by his head, and toss him a few feet into the air. Mazohn then attempted to launch a barrage of heavy punches at the human's torso, keeping him airborne by the sheer speed and power of his strikes. The demon would then attempt to end the combo via an elbow strike the head, forcing the human to the ground if successful. lk3t9bX_3d43

Luo witnessed his foe send two of the fired distraction blasts back at him. Quickly tucking his arms into a guarded form, he would deflect them away above and far past the stands until they dissipated into flecks of light. The pair would clash strengths when Luo darted back into the fray, the shockwave from the impact of their meeting blows loosing a small and brief ring of dust and debris to scatter off the edges off the fighting stage. ''I try. But ya ain't seen nothin' yet.'' Luo smirked, responding to his opponent's comment. Pointedly, he had vanished and managed to get his foe to stumble into that heavy kick! His opponent was sent spinning and reeling, but what the half-breed hadn't expected was for a kick to be launched right back at him. Taking it across the jaw and having his momentum thrown off wildly, he tumbled toward the ground. Just as he was able to begin to recover, his opponent closed in and popped him into the air with a quick grapple. Luo's eyes stayed glued to his aggressor's form; was this going to be another energy attack!? Curling defensively and expecting energy allowed Mazohn's first few punches to sneak through his guard, which in turn opened him up to even more. As he was held aloft by the volley of violent blows, an elbow came soaring in from overhead and smashed him into the tiles, loosing a square and cracking another as he made his short-ranged but high velocity impact. Gritting his teeth in pain, he slowly and shakily stood up before regaining his sense of balance. His foe's fighting style was marked with a streak of brutality, and he was beginning to feel its effects. The bruising and aching he was feeling began to make his blood run hot. Like all those training sessions back at the temple that had gone too far, and all those different mercenary contracts he'd enjoyed a little too much, the side he wasn't aware of was beginning to show.
It was time to let it out to play.
His ghostly white aura would spike markedly as he leaped a few paces backward from Mazohn. ''Ya really know yer way 'round a fight. Good t' know I don't have t' show any restraint!'' The edges of his aura began to take a slightly jagged shape as he internally weaved his ki through his muscles. Taking a crouching pose into a runner's stance, he would look up and grin before suddenly bursting forward off of his leading leg and vanishing. Luo's specialty was high-speed combat, and his Meteor Impact offered the fastest propulsion in his arsenal. He would suddenly reappear right in front of Mazohn, striking forward with a heavy punch and attempting to sink it into his gut and lift him off of his feet. If he were successful, he would throw that arm forward to heave him off, then hop forward with a launching kick to the chin. His attempted finale would be to vanish once more and interrupt his flight path, appearing above him with a falling ax kick to send him rocketing back down toward the stage!
Luo unleashes the Meteor Impact!

Mazohn laughed in the man's face, "I've seen nothing yet? At last we can agree on something Earthling. I haven't seen anything worthwhile." The demon jeered as the pair separated from one another as the tide of battle drew them apart. Like most things Mazohn had said in a fight recently, this statement tended towards a bluff. The human was fast, strong, and had that infinitesimal edge in ki and skill that kept forcing him onto the defensive, a state where he wasn't very comfortable. A lesser fighter's mind might have embraced this fighting style and began to think of ways to exhaust their opponent but not Mazohn. The demon was brash and had something to prove to himself, so he lashed back onto the offensive. He grinned as their fortunes reversed with that stinging twist fights like this seemed to have in abundance. With a mighty yell, Mazohn ended his combo, sending the human crashing to the tiles. "What's wrong earthling? I thought you had more to show me!" Mazohn called out, crossing his arms. The demon stood, smirking as the human rose to his feet, battered and bruised. He opened his mouth to throw another taunt, but snapped it shut as the human suddenly vanished, his ki rising exponentially. Mazohn's eyes darted to and fro in search of him, but he was only able to detect his foe when the boy's fist crashed into his gut, causing blood to fly from his mouth in a spray. Mazohn was launched helplessly backward as the human continued his high-combo, punctuating it with a heavy mid-air axe kick, sending Mazohn crashing once more to the tiles of the tournament stage. As the crowd roared in response to the magnificent attack, he slowly got to his feet, panting heavily. "never again." He muttered, images of his past flickering through his mind. "NEVER AGAIN!" Mazohn roared, whipping abruptly around, firing a massive wave of ki at Luo, intending to utterly brutalize him. wK7Y6R_s3d43

After the demon's wisecracking, Luo had even more fuel and drive to correct his underestimations. As his fist buried into his foe's gut, a proud grin would paint the half-blood's features. Grinding his knuckles into the impact point, the first strike flowed nicely into that following kick to launch his opponent, and that final falling signature ax kick of his landed right on target to send the dark ki-wielding individual straight back down to the tile. Landing shortly after he did, Luo took ragged, shaky, excited breaths. His blood was on fire! His form was beginning to drop, opening for a while a new take on combat. He was done with the hit and run antics. He wanted to savor this fight in every way he possibly could; the first step toward doing so was turning this into a brawl rather than a match. Without much time to collect his thoughts, he found himself surprised as his foe screamed defiantly and lashed out a massive wave of that dark energy. Speeding toward him, he braced as best he could and held his position as the energy washed over his body and marred scalds into his flesh, bruising him on impact and scuffing and burning him as it slammed against his guard. Luckily, he was able to keep up his defenses and compressed the explosive power of the attack. The detonation was smaller, but still very much potent. As the breeze cleared the cloud of smoke away and revealed shattered tiles around Luo, his ghostly white aura would kick up and blow away whatever remained, allowing the wind to carry it away. The damage to the arena from the match so far was largely superficial, which was a good thing. He didn't want rules and regulations getting in the way. Blasting off into flight just above the tile floor, he would head straight for Mazohn and rock his fists back. His first strike was a leg kick, aiming to offset his balance and hinder his defenses. A punch to the ribs was thrown next, followed by one aimed for the jaw. To finish off, he would weave just past his opponent's body in a short dash and attempt to elbow him in the lower back, then turn to face him and keep this fight at close quarters! The demon's ki howled forth from his palm as he engulfed his foe in pure ki, carving a small trench through the arena floor. Mazohn took ragged breaths as the attack ended, lowering his eyes and arm to the floor before seeing a hint of the human's white aura among his fading ki. His eyes burned in frustration as the human simply refused to keel over in defeat. It had been so long since he had faced an opponent of equal or greater power, months at the very least. If this path continued its current course, one of them was going to be seriously injured, if not crippled. Fortunately, this was just how Mazohn liked it. The demon slowly rose to his feet, rolling his shoulders, "You are a tough one I'll give you that." He called to the other, anger still slightly present in his tone, "But I'm still not sure you can win this, you are burning through an awful lot of ki with those moves. I only have to get my hands on you once and I win." He said with cold fury, returning to his original stance. It was time to end this, to take the advantage back once more. The human launched his next sortie, opening with a kick to Mazohn's leg and a punch to the ribs, both of which landed, but Mazohn somehow took them without too much disorientation. However, once Luo attempted a punch at Mazohn's jaw, he would find his fist caught in the demon's palm. Mazohn chuckled darkly, covered in bruises in cuts, "My dear Luo." He said mockingly, attempted to increase the pressure on the human's fist by a large margin, "You are becoming predictable, you do so like ending your flurries with face strikes." The demon said, opening his maw and launching a massive ki wave towards the hopefully still entrapped Luo. |PRk7pWE3d43

This guy sure loved to talk. Luo charged into the fray, feeling his leg kick land as well as the following punch to the ribs. What he wasn't expecting however was the punch to the jaw being caught and stopped dead. He froze for a moment, surprised, blinking a few times as Mazohn called him out on being predictable. Maybe he was just trying to get inside Luo's head. But at the same time, maybe Luo was making mistakes. Maybe he should have just cut loose and used his full arsenal instead of trying to keep a leash on his energy because of the crowd? His thoughts were further reinforced on the subject when Mazohn suddenly opened his mouth, letting loose yet another wave of dark ki! Trapped by the fighter's grip, the wave tackled him full force and pushed him halfway across the arena before detonating, sending him into a roll that finally stopped him just near the edge of the tile. With ragged breaths, he would wobble to his feet; that one in particular had stung pretty badly. Maybe it was due to the several he'd already taken? In either case, it was time to get creative. To cover his approach, he would let loose a few ki blasts as he darted side to side to serve as a distraction. Closing the distance, he would swing again for Mazohn's jaw; only this time, he would pull the fist back and allow it to join his other as his hands opened, looking to press against his opponent's chest. In short order his ki would flare up in a close range detonation from his hands, seeking to launch the mysterious foe backwards! Darting after him, he would attempt to lock him into a high speed flurry of punches and kicks to tie him up. If he could keep his attention occupied with close combat, maybe he wouldn't have to worry about any more energy waves anytime soon! ''True! Ya got me. But it seems like I like m' face strikes jus' as much as you like them ki waves!''Of course it would be in Luo's nature to attempt to call him out right back.
