He still couldn't believe it. He would never forget the roar of that crowd; celebrating their home-grown champion, Luo left with a small fortune in zeni, a shiny championship belt, and he was supposed to leave with some strange orange orb too. He had no idea what it was for, but the strange figure who'd stolen it had excitedly claimed something about a wish. It was his rightful property, so he'd have to go after it sooner or later. For now, though, something more important was on his mind. He'd worn his Turtle Gi to the tournament to represent Nezu Mi; after all, he was still learning from the old rat. Luo suddenly felt like Earth's new poster-boy, the home-grown hero that fought off the big bad alien, and something in him told him that his teacher would be more than glad to hear about it. After the ceremonies were over and he'd taken care of his business involving safely storing the money away, he'd thrown the belt over his shoulder and took off from the city, flying at a steady pace across the sky toward Turtle Island. Within an hour or so of passed time he'd made his way there finally, and touched down on the beach. He'd swapped into a fresh gi after his last one had been left in tatters from Retasu. His boot prints marked the sand as he trekked across the island, finally coming to a stop to cup a hand up near his mouth and shout. ''Oi, old man! Y'better come on out here! Yer not gonna believe this!'' He snickered to himself excitedly, waiting for the little old rat to come creeping outside any minute. He would keep the belt resting on his shoulder, shining from catching what little sunlight remained in the day. Retasu

Surprisingly, he would not find Nezu Mi inside the small, cozy looking home that they called the Kame House. Instead, the old rat was standing at the shoreline of his private beach, one hand behind his back, the other resting on his can as he stared out at the vast sea in front of him. "Hmmm..." As Luo drew near, he slowly turned, seeing the young boy approaching after winning the Tenkaichi Budokai. Part of him was proud, yet part of him also wished the boy had lost to teach him some more discipline, to let him know that there was always someone more powerful out there. However, he would not need the tournament to teach that lesson. After what happened at the ending ceremony, and all of the Demonic energies that had popped up recently, there was not much time for lessons at all. "I am aware, I was there in the crowd but left once the scene happened at the ending ceremony. I figured you'd find your way back here alone at some point, unless you let the fame get to your head already. I'm glad it did not."
The old rat approached, using his cane as slight support looking up at the young man from behind dark sunglasses. "A lovely trophy they've given you. You have represented the Kame School quite well, I must say. To defeat a Saiyajin, even if by the skin of your teeth, is impressive. I hope you are well aware and humbled by the type of powers that are out there, Luo. There are some even stronger than your finals opponent, to be sure."
He turned his back to Luo again, looking back out at the water. "What did you think of that being from the ending ceremony? The one who stole the Dragon Ball?"

''Normally this kinda fame would have my head up in the clouds, y'know?'' He began. ''But i've never been pushed that hard in my life. I couldn't sit there and get such a big head about it when I came so close to losin'. Retasu, that...Saiyajin, he called himself. He had a tail too. It all came down to one last exchange. Hell of a fighter, that'n. I did manage to get a few answers out of 'im. It makes me wanna keep trainin'. I know he'll be doin' the same. It's a fight like that one that can make ya wonder just how far ya can go.'' When Nezu Mi mentioned Luo's new trophy, the half-breed beamed with an ear to ear grin. Clearly he'd planned on doing something with the thing. ''That's actually a big reason i'm here, well, partly.'' He'd lift the belt off his shoulder and tuck it beneath an arm. ''I think the trophy belongs t'you. You're my teacher, after all. I scraped by on what I already knew, but the technique that helped me even things up with that huge energy blast of his is somethin' I developed from workin' on my control of energy after meetin' you. We can hang it up somewhere in your place, yeah?'' He'd offer him an enthusiastic thumbs up, before changing topic to answer his question about the strange figure that stole the Dragon Ball. ''At first I thought that guy was a coward. He jumps in after i'm all beat up and wore out from my finals match, steals my prize, and then poof. Off into th' wind. It wasn't until I focused on what I felt afterward that things made sense; 'e wasn't ordinary in the slightest. His energy...it felt dark, somehow. Like a coldness at the edge of my senses. I remembered what he said about there being six more of those orbs. I wonder if they really can grant a wish, or if he's jus' chasin' some fairy tale?''

Nezu Mi would simply nod, keeping one hand firmly planted on his cane while the other was tucked behind his back. "Yes. I can only assume one such as Retasu will be continuously training. He is a Saiyajin, like yourself. Your thirst for battle is just as great as his. Perhaps your paths will cross one day and you will know even more about your past than you do now." It seemed like Nezu Mi knew more than Luo had expected, but it only came with the territory of being so old and experiencing the things he did in his lifetime. "I knew what that tail of yours meant all too well when I fought you and Wayne here not too long ago. Though, I can't exactly tell you of your own, personal history. That is something you will need to determine on your own."
When Luo offered up the title belt as a trophy to be hung up within the Kame House, the old man almost smile but kept his near stoic composure. "Ah, I think that would be a great idea." In his mind, the old man was booming with pride... though more so his own personal pride at one of his students winning the Tenkaichi Budokai, and there being no Crane School student to speak of. He nearly snickered at the thought before straightening himself out. "Ahem, but yes. That... being who stole your prize was none other than a Namekian. Another alien race. If I had to guess, he hitched a ride here for the tournament upon hearing what the grand prize was and decided to sit out and wait for his time to strike. Not all of their kind is that evil, but there is an entire clan on some planet somewhere filled with them, enough to make my blood run cold." Nezu Mi took a few steps away from the water, walking towards the house and waving Luo in with him as he headed inside, waiting for his student to follow. "Sit, sit. I'll get us some tea."
He motioned to the cushions on the floor before heading into the small kitchen and placing an old tea kettle on the stove. It seemed he had some decently modernized appliances in the home, possibly slightly unsuspecting of him. "He wouldn't be chasing some fairy tale, Luo. He knows all too well the power of the Dragon Balls, it is his people that are capable of creating them. But not all Namekians are blessed with that power, only a select few who have trained properly to do so. Though, I wonder why he would come all the way here to use ours and not use the Dragon Balls that are likely on his home planet?"
It didn't take long for the kettle to whistle, the old rat taking two cups in either hand, his cane tucked under an army while his tail clasped the handle of that tea kettle with ease. He settled everything down on the small table in the middle of the living room area and poured them both a cup quickly, the liquid steaming hot and changing color with the natural, dried herbs and leaves within them. "In any case, all of it is unsettling indeed. The Namekian felt every bit as powerful as you would think, perhaps even more than you felt. If he collects all seven of the Dragon Balls, I would shudder to think exactly what someone like him would wish for."

Strange. When Wayne and Luo had their spar against the hermit, it seemed he knew more than he was letting on. Then again, at the time it didn't seem like words would have been the main focus. He probably thought Luo already knew about it. He was happy to see that the hermit was agreeable to hanging up that almost-gaudy trophy belt in his home. It would probably serve as a larger badge of pride to him than it would have been to Luo. He listened closely as his teacher explained what exactly had happened in the final moments of the post-tournament celebration; to be honest, with his exhaustion from the finals match he'd barely had time to process what was going on other than the fact someone had stolen what he had rightfully earned. It was a pretty little reward, so it certainly had struck a nerve to find himself without it. ''Namekian, huh?'' He didn't exactly have the chance to see much of what the figure looked like before they darted off. As soon as they had shown up, they had decided to depart with part of his winnings in tow. He nodded at the notion to take a seat, and did so. This discussion was already giving him plenty to think about. Apparently, what he caught of his aggressor babbling something about a wish wasn't false at all. His teacher even claimed that Namekians had the ability to create them, which posed the even bigger question of why the thief would have bothered traveling all the way here to find a different set. From the sounds of it, those who could create them were rare. ''Maybe things are different there, yeah? It sounds like the things are pretty important t' them. I bet they keep theirs under heavy watch or somethin'. If these Dragon Balls are that powerful, it makes me wonder why we don't do the same to ours. Maybe most people don't know what they can do?''Nezu Mi issued a warning that the thief was likely more powerful even than what Luo had considered them to be. There were seven of these orbs, and the thief already had one. ''Even if he is tough, I feel kinda obligated t' go after 'im. I mean, you're right. What happens if he does come across the other six? Somebody needs to stop 'im. Better it be someone from Earth, at that. But if he's stronger than I think he is, I wonder how i'd stack up? He'd prob'ly be even more of a problem after his wish if he got that far...'' Luo scratched his head in thought. He'd certainly proved his strength by taking the tournament victory, but there were still a lot of things that weren't clear. He wouldn't be doing anybody any good by walking in blind. Retasu

Nezu Mi sighed, shaking his head as he took a sip of his own tea. "If you go after him as you are, even with your new acquired strength, he will defeat you, I am afraid. You are not ready. The only thing I can suggest is to continue your training and in doing so, look for the rest of the Dragon Balls, or at least one, to prevent the Namekian from getting all of them himself." Settling the cup down onto the small table, he let out a small sigh. "I do not want you to think that winning that tournament means you can go rouge and defeat anyone on the planet, even for the sake of good. You must be careful, and much better equipped."
Nezu Mi would nod at that, taking what would be a final sip of the tea before standing up. "I think it's time for you to learn a certain technique that will help you, should you choose to be Earth-2's defender or not. It has been passed down for ages among those of the Turtle School, and is our ultimate technique." Moving back towards the door outside, he would save Luo on, using that walking stick as he went. "It is called the Kamehameha, and when done correctly, it is a ki based technique that will be incredibly effective against your foes."
The old rat continued to walk, until he was at the shore where the ocean met his private beach. "Everyone can fire a simple ki blast, use their ki as a weapon if they have enough training to do so. The Kamehameha perfects that, and unlike any old ki based technique, you need to concentrate completely and gathering your energy before using it." He looked upwards at Luo should he had made his way beside him at the shoreline. "I think you are ready to learn this technique, do you?"

This time, the Hermit issued a much more direct warning. He was outright telling his pupil that going after that stranger would be foolish. Bullheaded as he was, the serious tone certainly made him consider it. As much as he hated to admit it, the old Hermit could have been right. Other than continuing his training, his Master did have a pretty good idea. ''That's perfect! If I can find one of th' others, then he can't make a wish. Maybe stayin' low profile like that with one or two of th' set would be my best option. Buys me time to get stronger while he's off chasin' the others, yeah?'' One would be more risky, but would also likely buy him the most time. He certainly had some thinking to do. What really got Luo's attention though was Nezu Mi admitting that he felt his student was ready to learn the Turtle School's ''ultimate technique''. He would follow closely behind the Hermit, leaving the trophy belt behind and in the dwelling as they slowly made their way to the shoreline. ''A ki-based technique? Is it like the one Retasu used against me in the finals?'' That energy attack had been incredibly potent, but Luo didn't have much experience with externalizing his energy in such a way. The Meteor Impact internalized it, which some could argue had its own difficulties. Of course he was excited. Sometimes being so stubborn came in handy, and he was ready to hammer this lesson into his brain until he got it right. ''I'm ready! I wanna see what made the Turtle School so legendary!''''Perfecting'' the use of your ki as a weapon? What could that have really meant? Was there really such a concept? Retasu

Nezu Mi could only nod at Luo's response. The young man had a bright fire within him, ready and willing to learn along with a great potential and wealth of power to do anything he set his mind to. He wasn't sure if Wayne would have been able to keep up with him beyond a certain point, should the Human kept up with his training and continued his tutelage under him. "Right. I had a feeling you would say that. I am your all knowing sensei, after all." The rat cleared his throat, placing a small fist over his mouth as he did so before continuing. "You can control your energy fairly well, I can sense that. However, even a novice at martial arts should have enough control of their ki to be able to use it as a weapon, such as what I am about to show you. Keep in mind, not everyone gets it at their first try. Keep your eyes on me and watch with your eyes AND your body."
Nezu Mi would spike the pointy end of that wooden cane into the sand, leaving it to stand there on its own. He took in a deep breath, before letting it out slowly. He had been a while since he had done this. In his mind he was hoping he'd be able to do it without overexerting himself. It had been quite a long time. His right arm raised up with an open palm, his left extended downward with his palm open in the same manner. Bringing them both towards each other, the palms would connect at the right in front of him. "Kaaaaaa...." Nezu Mi's voice almost sounded like an echo, the sand around him began to whip up a bit, as well as the waters which were quite calm. Shifting in his stance, he'd bring both arms back, still clasped together, towards his right hip slowly. "Meeeeee...."
An visibly energy began to surge around him, an outline of some sort of glow as a single orb of energy formed within those cupped palms. "Haaaaaa.... Meeeeee...." If Luo could feel his ki at all, he would be able to tell that a sudden spike of energy came seemingly out of nowhere, with just the Kamesennin saying a few words and body motions. Before long, he'd throw both arms forward, still joined at the wrist, as the sphere of ki fired off a wave that split the ocean in to, like a hot knife through butter and unrelenting. "HAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!"
It wasn't until the Turtle Sensei lowered his hands down to end the attack did the waters come back together in a somewhat violent manner. "Hmm, easier than I remember. Maybe you can pick it up no problem. Let's go step by step."
He gathered his cane up, tapping Luo in the legs with it gently. "Widen your stance up some and do the first motion I did, while concentrating on your energy and using your ki OUTSIDE of your body."
Let's see if Luo can get this. Follow the "Ka-Me" part of the motion and roll 1d100 to see if Luo successfully gathers his energy. At Luo's current level, rolling a 40+ would be a success in this first step.

His Sensei would release a quip worthy of his wisdom, having fully expected Luo's response. With the kind of way this old hermit carried himself, it sure was hard to surprise him; he'd probably seen plenty in all his years, after all. Noting that even a novice in the ways of martial combat could control ki, he would also note that Luo could use his own energy fairly well. Was it possible that internalizing it was more difficult, and he'd really had this whole thing backwards? Luo would tighten up his posture after being instructed to follow Nezu Mi's motions. Watching him drive that stick into the sand like a stake, he would raise a curious eyebrow. Watching the strange posture and hand movements closely, he wasn't sure what to expect when the old rat hermit began chanting something. Whatever he was up to, it was generating an incredible build up of energy. Calm waters began to ripple and gently wave away from the beach, while the sand near them both began to shake gently and start to whip into a soft carry by a wind that hadn't been there but moments prior. Was this the Turtle School's heavily guarded secret? Luo's blood began to boil with excitement before he'd even witnessed the conclusion. His Master's voice carried an echo, almost like an effortless shout. A sphere of ki had formed in his hands and after thrusting it forward, a mighty wave of energy punctuated with the final shout tore off of the beach, headed for the far-stretching waters. The most incredible thing to witness was the paltry resistance the wide open ocean offered in its destructive wake. The water itself split cleanly in its path, the column of energy only ending its impressive advance once the Hermit had dropped his stance. Luo's jaw was slack by now, awed by the incredible amount of energy he'd just seen launched. It reminded him of Retasu's own attack, only possibly more potent. He couldn't wait to get started, naturally. Doing as he was told, he widened his stance by sliding one of his legs back and forming a strong, balanced core. He began to unleash his energy, the white wind kicking up a bit of already tossed about sand. Cupping his hands, he'd slowly begin to move them back into copying the position he'd just witnessed. ''Kaaaaa....''The energy burning in his core began to steadily release into his aura, and his stance sunk just a tad to hold him up more strongly. Snaking down his arms and into his wrists, then hands and fingers, he could feel the warmth begin to sink into his palms as the space between his hands crackled slightly, the shape of an orb of energy flitting quickly in and out of view. Its pace steadily began to quicken, and now he would try to lock it in tight. A pea-sized orb of energy came at first, quickly swelling to fill much more of the space between his hands. It struggled through shrinking and inflating, the strain on Luo's face reflecting the internal effort of controlling energy. He would attempt to now only feed enough energy into it to keep its shape and potency, drawing his cupped hands back a bit further. ''Meeeeee....''

With his eyes focused on Luo's movements, Nezu Mi would also focus his senses on the young hybrid before him. He was displaying quite the ability to control his energy right off the bat. It was no real surprise to the old Turtle Hermit, though. Luo was strong, but he also wasn't completely an Earthling. He had Saiyajin blood in him, the blood of a warrior race that would make such things as controlling one's ki as a weapon, or otherwise, much more simple. Once he had the motions down and began to form that ki outside of his body Nezu Mi urged him on, though trying not to distract him in doing so. "That's it, boy. Keep concentrating. Keep focus. Let your body do the work."
With any luck, the young man would be able to control the energy just enough to complete pooling it within his palms. At that point, it would be able to be fired as a wave, just like he had just done previously. "Link your mind and body as one. Do not use too much of either. Let them work together completely!"
Okay, let's see if we can finish this. With a "Ha" and a "Me" roll 1d100. Once again, a 40+ will get you to the last part!

With intense focus and a hardened force of will, Luo had done it. He knew he couldn't get ahead of himself, but he was nonetheless extremely proud of making the construct stable. He was one step closer to unleashing that incredible energy he'd just witnessed, but it wasn't over yet. He kept his eyes focused on the waters before him, not daring for even a moment to let his gaze and focus slip. He would listen intently to the Hermit's words, taking the coaching to heart. Now that the form of the attack was stable, it was time to pool energy into it to give it that incredible force! The center of the orb began to flicker in color, slowly but surely changing from a dark blue up to a lighter one, and ever brightening still. ''Haaaaa....''The dark blue gave way to its lighter sibling, which then began to bleach into a pure white. Beads of sweat began to form on Luo's brow, with the small whipping of sand around him growing in intensity. It was now becoming much more like a spiral with the half-breed in the center, a flickering of the bright white flashing against his form. With this increased focus, he took the latter part of the Hermit's advice to heart; he let himself feel the energy flowing through him like water, almost like the calm waters of a river. The color began to set, the potency increasing... ''Meeeeee....He was close, and so confident!

Nezu Mi was astounded as he looked on, watching Luo gather his ki energy outside of his body for what he figured was the first time. Perhaps the boy was able to do it before without really knowing it, but still, in this moment he was controlling his energy perfectly as if he was a seasoned veteran. Nezu Mi couldn't help but hypothesize that this effortlessness, from where he stood anyway, was thanks mostly to his Saiyajin genetics. The alien race of warriors was known to be able to use ki energy as a weapon efficiently, even young children. Luo would be no different, even if the other half of his was a regular, ol' Human.
"That's it, Luo. Concentrate, keep pulling out that energy until you feel what's in your hand is about to burst!"
Nezu Mi adjusted his sunglasses some, his mind wandering once more. Perhaps Luo would surpass him sooner than he thought? Maybe he already had? Still, he was young and needed proper training.
"Now! Fire!"
The old rat pointed out at the ocean, Luo's target.
GO FOR IT! Fire off your Kamehameha rolling your regular attack dice!
