Sweat dripped down Dian Xin's forehead as he ran down the beach and away from the terrible Samba who had tried to do terrible things to him. He breathed heavily as he threw up sand every which way, his wild footsteps cutting through the soft surface of the beach like a knife. Suddenly, as he ran, his boot caught something hard and heavy beneath the sand, sending the halfblood swordsman tumbling down the beach, red head first into the sand. The grains went down his shirt and he gave a muffled shout as he hit the ground. The wind left him and sand entered his mouth. Dian Xin laid there for a moment in his fear, spitting the sand from his mouth, the earthy taste of the stuff clotting his tongue and sticking the walls of his cheeks. His sword lay harmlessly in his side, a dull ache sitting where metal had struck his flesh, the tsuba of his sword burying itself in his side. The demon-son muttered a small curse and staggered to his feet, checking behind him with wide, purple eyes that showed only fear. Was Samba going to follow him? Dian Xin kept moving forward, both out of fear and from his desire to find the so-called Kamesennin. At this point, it had better be well worth it. The halfbreed moved down the beach, keeping an eye out for any signs of life- or any signs at all.

"My, my. That's some fall you took." The sound of a voice calling out to Dian could be heard, but curiously the voice was no where to be seen. At least within direct eye level, not until Dian would look up, if he did, to see a mouse clothed in some sort of traditional style clothing riding on top of, a turtle shell? (Actual image of the turtle) The spinning shell would lower itself down to ground level, stopping as the image of the spinning rodent-man came to face Dian fully. He had been standing there as if he wasn't just spinning around at incredible speeds at all, one arm tucked behind his back, a cane in the other. The prehistoric looking turtle would pop its head out of the shell as Nezu Mi hopped off the shell in dramatic fashion. "I've been following you for a while, young man. It looks like you were running away from someone, and it was surprising to me that someone of your power would be running from anyone. From what I can feel from you, you're quite strong." He'd cough a bit before pointing up at the sky and continuing. "And also from up there you looked like a young girl running down the beach so I thought you needed help. You really should cut your hair you know." He was spinning very fast, after all! He couldn't really tell from that height as the rodent man would grumble to himself.

Dian Xin whipped his head from side to side violently, crimson hair flying each way as a voice suddenly broke out over him. His hand instantly went to his sword. Samba? No, he thought, the voice did not carry enough evil within it. An answer soon presented itself as a spinning mass of green, grey, and yellow fell into his vision. As the spinning presence came to a stop, two things revealed themselves to Dian Xin: first, the elderly looking mouse man that was sat atop the second: a rather monstrous- if somehow cute- turtle, that looked more like one of the dinosaurs that roamed the wastelands than a sea creature. The man chastised him for running and even leveled a dig at his hair. Dian Xin's cheeks went as red as his hair. The halfbreed looked at the man who did not seem to be looking at him head on and a sudden desire to speak and defend himself came over him. "I didn't want that guy to, you know, violate me," he muttered, embarrassed, "and violence didn't seem like the answer."Dian Xin's eyes fell downwards, still ashamed, and he was suddenly much more interested in the grains of sand beneath his feet then facing the man who was scolding him in a teacher-like fashion. ". . . And I like my hair."While his mouth talked, Dian Xin's mind was spinning. The man had been following him? Dian Xin had not noticed, though perhaps on account of the fact he lacked the very same talent the mouse proclaimed: Dian Xin could not sense power, having always relied on his other senses rather than his spiritual one. Suddenly, Dian Xin looked up, as if driven to a sudden revelation after his embarrassment began to fade, just a little. "Hey!" he exclaimed, "Why are you following me?"

As Dian told his story the rat master blinked from behind dark sunglasses. He was a bit confused by all this sudden information, and without context it all didn't make much sense. "Violate you? That guy? Is it because he thought you were a girl, too?" Nezu Mi shook his head quickly after, waving the young boy off. "I already told you why I was following you. You seemed like a damsel in distress, and I tend to ignore a person's ki when it comes to the fairer of the genders."
His cane came up to prod lightly at the young man's stomach, with the pointy end. His vision was focused on him, being able to feel out this young one's ki. It was tainted with a bit of Demon energy, but not entirely. He was likely a hybrid of sorts. "Anyway, none of that hardly matters right now. I sense a great power within you, boy. And to avoid violence rather than take it on head first is a bit odd, well... it's odd because you're clearly made of a bit of something else, aren't you?" Recent years had seen an influx of dark, Demon energy enter this side of the realm. Was this boy a byproduct of that somehow?
"No need to hide it. Nothing gets past me." Aside from possibly gender identity while spinning high up in the sky. "What're you looking for then?"
Sorry for the wait, Dian Xin. Crazy weekend. But let's keep going, feels like it could be a fun one.

"Violence isn't always the answer," muttered Dian Xin with a shrug, "I don't want to spill blood in a place I don't have to."An odd, dual sensation of pride and stinging took Dian Xin. The pride found itself born from the supposed great power that the mouse man could feel within the swordsman halfblood. Damn straight, thought Dian Xin, there was some great power and potential in him, and it was good to hear someone recognize it for once. But the stinging was more subtle, underscored by pride: Dian Xin was "something else", or at least partly. The demon blood in his veins had always been obvious, and never had the halfbreed been able to hide from it. Did the man judge him for it? Or maybe Dian Xin's pride was still just wounded, leaving him raw and more sensitive to such commentary. "Demon," he said quietly, "part demon is what I am. On my mother's side. Though I consider myself Earthling first."He added the last part, as if to chase anyway any doubts, be it the mouse man's doubts or his own. It was almost as if being on the other side of an interrogation. Was the mouse man some kind of cop? "I'm looking for the Kamesennin," said Dian Xin, forward and truthful. Dian Xin looked at the man and his mount, the gears in his head slowly turning. Purple squinted eyes observed the man with scrutiny. The mouse had flown in on a turtle and that kanji on his chest. . . Thoughts continued to turn as he still stood on edge. Retasu

"Hnnn. That's what I thought, and that's what I was afraid of." Was the thought that crossed Nezu Mi's mind as the boy admitted part of his biological lineage was that of a Demon. His energy signature gave that away all too well. Though he seemed calm, and even though his ki was Demonic in nature their was a calmness to him, nothing remotely hateful or purely evil that the old Turtle Master himself could feel. "That's an interesting mix, if I do say so myself. Family gatherings must be quite interesting." He'd say aloud, but mostly to himself as he was not trying to pry. There was a long awkward silence, but that was only because the Turtle Hermit was thinking about just what sort of gorgeous, unearthly, and... bountiful woman this Demoness would be!
After that long pause, before Jian could say any more the rodent spoke up. "Right. The Kamesennin. I can take you to him for sure. He lives over that way." He turned away from Dian, pointing in the direction the young boy was running to but out over the wide expanse of the ocean. "Not far, really." The rodent began to climb back onto the turtle's shell, tapping it with his cane again. "Though, with all that power I'm wondering what it is you want me to teach you. Perhaps to harness it, or perhaps your fighting skill is just sloppy. Either way, if you lose sight of me we'll never find what we can make you better at, hm?"
Once he had admitted his identity, the turtle Nezu Mi was standing on would go POP back into his shell all at once before launching itself into the air and spiraling away in the direction that he had pointed Dian in. Would he be able to keep up?

"We don't do too many of those family reunions, I'm afraid," grunted Dian Xin with a small, harsh laugh. All his family were either vagabonds or demons! Not really the most sociable people of the bunch, he was afraid. But soon, family matters were the furthest thing from his mind. The turtle-riding mouse soon spoke up: yes, indeed, he did know where the Kamesennin was and he could even show Dian Xin where to find him! Delightful, thought the demon-kin, this trip had paid off after all. Dian Xin leaned forward and was ready to beat feet, but before anything else could be said, the mouse reveled himself as the Kamesennin! Dian Xin's mouth dropped and his purple eyes went wide. This mouse was the fabled Turtle Hermit!? Quickly, Dian Xin made to plead his case, but the Kamesennin was off in the same whirlwind he had arrived in! "Wait!" cried Dian Xin, but it was too late. The halfblood would just have to catch the mouse and prove his worth that way! Throwing himself forward and into the air, the demon boy levitated after the man, still unsure of his true skill in bukujutsu, but steadily gaining speed- and hopefully, gaining on the Kamesennin! yjmv7I2D1d100Retasu let's get this back on the road, if you're able! 1d100

Nezu Mi's sense of ki tingled, his fur bristling up a bit as the half-blood Demon seemed to understand and was following suit. That magical, flying turtle continued to whirl in the air, cutting through the air just above the water now. The young man seemed to be able to handle his ki fairly well, being able to manipulate it enough to actually fly. That was something that Nezu Mi, himself, did rarely if at all. Why expend any energy when you had a perfectly good flying turtle to get you places just as fast? The shell would stop spinning for a moment, though, using the gained momentum to glide along, a few inches above the water. "So, you can fly? Well, isn't that lovely. And here I thought you were going to have to swim all the way there. I'll say it again, I'm rather eager to understand why someone such as yourself, who has such a strong power coming from him already, wants training for someone like me?" A small hand came up to adjust the sunglasses that rested on his face. "What an interesting boy you are, indeed."
The other hand that held onto that cane tapped onto that turtle's shell once more, as if giving the occupant within the signal to continue its flight. Before long, the turtle shell began to once again spin rapidly, this time revolving even more than before. In the blink of an eye, it rocketed off, with Nezu Mi on its back, to the point where it was nearly a tiny spec from where Dian Xin had just been previously. Was he even going to be capable of catching up at this point? Nezu Mi had high hopes, judging by literally half of the boy's genetic makeup. "Heheh, hopefully he turns out to be quite capable. That'll show that stupid Crane sensei." A bit of a cackle left Nezu Mi then, while a voice from within the shell called out, sounding a bit echoed. "Are you thinking about how you can stick it to the Crane sensei again?" Nezu Mi scoffed, as both their bodies whirled wildly in the air. "Quiet, you."

"Not so great at it, but yeah, I can fly!" shouted Dian Xin as he finally just started to approach once again, thinking that maybe the Kamesennin would take it easy on him and the two would enjoy a nice, leisurely fly back to wherever the fabled martial artist made his home. Wouldn't that be nice? Maybe he could even explain why he wanted to learn from the Kamesennin, if they could just move along real casually. "You see, Kamesennin-" he began, but was cut off almost immediately by the fact that the turtle once again took off like a crack of green lightning. Well, he thought, there went that idea. "Damn!" muttered Dian Xin beneath his breath. But there was no stopping now! He wasn't going to let some elderly mouse show him up like this! He continued his flight after the fleeing Turtle Hermit. Having flown off in that burst, Nezu Mi continued to feel out for Dian's ki, feeling it not really gaining any momentum on him or catch up very much. Well, what was a bother. He figured the boy would be able to at least keep up with as fast as the turtle was going. Perhaps he needed a bit more work and polishing then. "I think we lost him, Kamesennin." The echoed voice of the turtle could be heard, to which Nezu Mi once again scoffed at in response. "Seems that way. Slow down, slow down. At least let him catch up."
At that command, the speed of the turtle had gone down dramatically, allowing Dian Xin the half blood to catch up with them. Once again, the turtle's rotation stopped, skimming along the top of the water like a rock that had been skipped over a lake. "Sorry, you were saying something? I thought you were right behind me when you started talking, turns out you're a bit of a slow poke." He cleared his throat with a cough, a free hand reaching up to adjust his sunglasses once more, as if he needed a better view of the young man flying behind him, "Well, out with it. I have a hankering for some fresh sashimi and a cold beer, and you're holding me up from that."
Once again, before Dian could fully answer, or perhaps just as he had started to, the Turtle Hermit tapped on the shell of that turtle once more who had taken to rapidly spinning and flying off once again. Perhaps, at this point, Nezu Mi was just playing with the young man, as it seemed to be. But was this training in disguise? Was Nezu Mi already testing the boy's limits? "You're an awful man sometimes, Kamesennin, you know that right?" It seemed his turtle companion felt sorry for Dian, which caused the Turtle Hermit to slap his cane over the top of that shell over and over like a mallet. "NO ONE ASKED YOU, JUST KEEP FLYING!"

Dian Xin cursed beneath his breath once again as the Kamesennin shrunk from his view and started to become a green, mousy dot on the horizon. How did a turtle get so fast? Dian Xin knew well enough that the answer was probably somewhere between magic and advanced ki manipulation, but damn!- He didn't want to spare though on it. Dian Xin sallied forth, not deterred yet. Perhaps out of pity, the Kamesennin once again slowed, allowing the demon boy to catch him, but not giving the boy a chance to speak, instead preferring to enthuse about his need for lunch! Dian Xin frowned and opened his mouth once again to speak, but before even a single utterance could escape his mouth, the Kamesennin was off again! "Gahhh!" cried Dian Xin in frustration, "That old mouse. . . I'm not going to let him escape me so easily!"Resolve redouble, Dian Xin burst forward in another attempt at catching the Kamesennin, hoping his efforts would be enough, though it looked doubtful: the Kamesennin and his turtle mount were really barreling forward now! Perhaps the turtle had felt sorry for Dian, or perhaps Dian really did push himself to be able to catch up. Whatever the reason, Nezu Mi could sense that slightly Demonic ki getting near, and eventually tailing right behind him. Perhaps he would prove to be a magnificent student after all. Before long, the turtle would begin to zero in on a small island, with an even smaller house resting right in the middle of it. Landing perfectly on the sand, Nezu Mi would give a slight cough, before hopping off the turtle's shell. His eyes nearly flashed behind those dark tinted lenses. "I'm hoping you didn't let the boy catch up to you, Kame-san." Unlike its counterpart on the other Earth, this one was not so timid. Head popped out of its shell to roll its eyes, but giving no other answer as Dian began to come into view. Should the boy land on the sand, Nezu Mi would simply stand there. "So, you're not so hopeless after all, it seems." He turned his back to the boy, pointing his can over towards a bench and table area off to the side, near the house. "Wait for me there. I'll be right back."
He vanished into the small home, returning with a bottle of water in one hand, a large, frosted mug of beer in the other, and a decently sized "wooden ship" brandishing various types of sushi and sashimi. Reaching the table and bench, Nezu Mi tossed the bottle in Dian's direction, before settling down his own mug of beer and the sushi boat in the middle of the table. There were two sets of chopsticks already in said boat, Nezu Mi picking them up, grabbing a piece of fatty tuna and rice and devouring it whole, speaking with the food jammed up against one cheek in his mouth. "So, now that you're not trying to catch up with me, how about you tell me what you're looking for as far as training with me?"
Looks like Dian Xin could keep up after all! Time to woo the Kamesennin with your words!

Finally, the halfbreed was gaining on the mouse! The green blur of the turtle on the horizon quickly grew closer and closer to Dian Xin as he sped along the water, flight slowly coming to him much more naturally, despite his initial lack of confidence. Before long, the turtle- and its hermit- seemed so close that Dian Xin could reach out and touch them- though not quite. There was still some distance between them, but as of now, that turtle wasn't leaving his sight anytime soon! A small island appeared on the horizon, marked by a tiny house. Was this is? The home of the legendary Kamesennin? Or just another leg in their journey? Answers would soon be revealed, as Dian Xin touched down into the sand, skidding to a halt as the tan grains swished about his feet, flying every which way from his sudden stop. The mouse spoke and Dian Xin grinned and ruffled his own hair, but said nothing as the Kamesennin disappeared into the house and gave Dian Xin instructions to wait by what looked like a picnic bench. So, he thought, it was the last stop. Briefly, Dian Xin's purple eyes slid to the turtle and the demon blooded man considered asking the reptilian a few questions, but he thought better of it- best not to test the mouse's patience. So he did as he was told and it was not long before the Kamesennin reappeared bearing food and drinks, with a water bottle swiftly tossed towards Dian Xin upon his approach. The halfblood deftly snatched it out of the air and drank gratefully from it. The man set the food in the middle and Dian Xin noticed two chopsticks: one for the Kamesennin. And one for him? Dian Xin would not presume anything, not when he was on a strange island in the middle of nowhere with a mouse and his magic turtle. Still, the time came to answer questions. What did Dian Xin hope to get out of training with the Kamesennin. "Well, sir," said the demon child with a wide, toothy grin, "a couple things, really. If I'm being entirely honest, the biggest reason is I wanna get stronger. Sure, I'm plenty strong already, but I can always learn more. And, you know, the Turtle School is pretty legendary- and kinda mysterious, which makes it mondo cool- in the martial arts scene. What better place to learn than from here?"Dian Xin shrugged. "And I guess a purpose or some direction in life never hurts anyone. Sure, I love the open road as much as the next guy, but I'm not really doing myself- or anyone else for that matter- any good out on the open road right now. What good is it being so strong if you don't do anything good with it, ya know?" Retasu ,

He let the boy go on, munching down on his food and taking a large gulp of the beer, washing it down heartily before settling it onto the table. "Well, you are not wrong, there is no better place to learn than with me." Flattery would work on the old man as he thought, "Certainly not that stupid Crane School." Impressed with himself, for whatever reason, Nezu Mi gave a firm nod to the boy, motioning over to the second set of chop sticks so he could also indulge. "I can respect your choices, young man. I certainly can. I am tasked to scour the planet and find the greatest potential fighters the Universe has birthed in order to protect the beauty and peace that is Earth-2!" Nezu Mi made his proclamation, to which the flying turtle would casually roll his eyes at. "But even so, I can't just let anyone wear the sacred symbol of the Kame School. I can tell you are strong, but you have the one up on everyone else with your half Demon blood. It makes you naturally stronger than the typical Earthling. Though it is impressive, do not lean too heavily on that alone."
He reached out to take another piece of seafood, shoving it into his mouth happily and munching it down. "I will take you on as a student under a few conditions. First thing's first, we need to make sure that your Demon side will not cloud your judgement or cause any problems, for me or anyone else." Nezu Mi pointed his chop sticks at the boy, to further his point. "Again, your Demon side gives you a great advantage, but is also what will be your greatest weakness. If you have any evil within you because of it we need to make sure that it is purged immediately, so... a test."
The Kamesennin would put his chop sticks down, and out of seemingly nowhere pull out two photos. Each was held out for Dian to see. In the left photo was the image of a very attractive young woman. Curves in all the right places with long, rich hair that cascaded down her back, a woman's body but an innocent smile on her face.
On the right was, literally, an animal woman who seemed to look more Hippo than anything.
"Both of these women are drowning in the sea. What is your reaction? What do you do?"
What did THIS have to do with anything at all? Once again, the turtle would roll his eyes, going back to slumber comfortably in the sand.

Being honed as one of Earth II's finest fighters and defenders? Dian Xin liked the sound of that, quite a bit. Excitedly, he shuffled from foot to foot, but the rest of the man's speech was not lost on him: of course he was stronger than the average Earthling. That is something he had found out long before. The demonic blood in his veins was a blessing- in that regard, though not everyone saw it that way. A few people had passed judgement on him for it before, though Dian Xin tried to not let it bother him. Even now, Dian Xin felt cool and cautious judgement coming from the Kamesennin regarding his demonic heritage, whether that was his intention or not. The boy gave the smallest of frowns and ran a hand through his long red hair, forehead growing tight in concern. Evil in his heart? Because of what? His demonic nature? Conflict rose out of the sea of his hybrid heart. It seemed unfair that he was going to be tested because of his heritage. Dian Xin had always believed in doing right by others and in justice- or at least his own brand of it. Still, he maintained his silence and gravely nodded as the mouse-warrior put forth the test, presenting a picture of two women. One was pretty and the other was. . . not, to say the least. Certainly not the kind of woman Dian Xin would like to spend his leisure time with to say the least. Still, the dilemma was presented to him: they were drowning and. . . that was about it. Where was the question, the test? Dian Xin looked at the Kamesennin with plain confusion on his face. "I. . . I save them? It seems pretty obvious to me. I mean, there's two of them, sure," he said, beginning to explain himself, "but it's not like I can't manage both of them. I mean, I think I'm really starting to get the hang of this flying thing, so I don't think it would be too difficult to scoop the both of them out of the water."Dian Xin shrugged. "If I can save only one of them, then I dunno," he admitted, "it's harder then. Like, yeah, the one girl is really pretty and the other isn't. Let's be honest. But you know, I really don't know if that would play into if I came face to face with the situation. Like, for all I know, the pretty girl could be a killer. Looks can be deceiving."Looks can be deceiving. . . wasn't that the theme of this whole encounter? Retasu
